BOTOX® Fillers

Botox treatment can also be used for therapeutic reasons. It can be used for relief from TMJ pain, clenching and to reduce the appearance of a “gummy smile”. Dr. Ferguson is trained in head and neck anatomy, and provide injections on a regular basis for Botox and dermal fillers.

Another advantage of having dermal filler placed at our office is Dr. Ferguson can administer oral anesthesia before the filler to make the procedure painless.

BOTOX®, JUVÉDERM® & Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ)

Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMJ)

No one treatment can resolve TMJ disorders completely and treatment takes time to become effective. Dr. Ferguson can help you have a healthier and more comfortable jaw.

TMJ disorders develop for many reasons. You might clench or grind your teeth, tightening your jaw muscles and stressing your TM joint. You may have a damaged jaw joint due to injury or disease. Injuries and arthritis can damage the joint directly or stretch or tear the muscle ligaments. As a result, the disk, which is made of cartilage and functions as the “cushion” of the jaw joint, can slip out of position. Whatever the cause, the results may include a misaligned bite, pain, clicking, or grating noise when you open your mouth or trouble opening your mouth wide.

Many times, a patient’s jaw problem has many contributing causes. Bite correction involving orthodontic braces and corrective jaw surgery by a specialist is sometimes needed.  Bite correction involving care by a general  dentist may also be of value in resolving symptoms.
